Japanese psychedelic rock group share first taste of upcoming debut album

Hibushibire have unveiled the first teaser from their upcoming debut album in the form of ‘Trepanation Breakdown’, which you can listen to above.

The Japanese band formed in 2012 as an improvisation jam rock band between guitarist Chang Chang and bassist 821, but recently the band began to commit to hard psychedelic rock, after a series of lineup changes. As demonstrated with this teaser, the band are indebted to ’60s hard rock and ’70s progressive rock as much as they are influenced by psychedelia.

Hibushibire recorded the album in one day at a studio in their home city of Osaka, before overdubbing to try to hone in on their sound. The band also brought in the legendary Kawabata Makoto, of Acid Mothers Temple, to mix the album. Makoto recently dubbed the band, "the advance party of a next generation psychedelic rock band.” The band added that his work has helped to make the debut sound even more psychedelic and more exciting.

Freak Out Orgasm!, from which the above track is taken, is due for release on March 3 via Riot Season Records.
