Late last year The Membranes shared a remix album entitled Dark Matter/Dark Energy on which acts such as Manic Street Preachers, Killing Joke’s Youth, Godflesh, Mark Lanegan and more took on tracks from the band’s Inner Space/Outer album.
Another of the remixes came from Iran’s Barfak who play far out drone metal with a number of traditional Iranian folk instruments. The Membranes’ John Robb found the band online sometime ago and organised a gig at Tallinn Music Week in Estonia at which they played.
The video for the remix of ‘Magic Eye (To See The Sky)’, which you can check out above, was filmed by the band themselves in their home country with the original track featuring themes based around the religious intolerance of science as well as the persecution of Galileo.
You can check out another remix from the album, this time by Clint Mansell, place the text you want as hyperlink here. The remix album is out now and The Membranes will next play their own festival at Manchester Ritz with Brix and the Extricated, Evil Blizzard, the Nightingales, Dub Sex and the Blinders all supporting. Tickets for that can be purchased here.
