Through fabric’s closure in the later stages of 2016, the club’s in-house team pressed forward adding more editions to their two compilation series representing all facets of the club’s bookings with a particularly strong entry into the series coming from Nina Kraviz last month.
Now they’ve announced the 92nd instalment of the series and the honour falls to Call Super who has released a number of records with fabric’s in-house label Houndstooth also. His mix focuses on the later hours of the club’s nights, which he explains thusly: "I love playing every hour of the night. However the late hours seemed strangely underrepresented within this series, and I thought it would be good to start there instead of using this opportunity to add another peak time chapter to the collection."
The mix takes in music from Beatrice Dillon, Objekt, Photek, Shanti Celeste, Yves Tumor, Call Super himself and many more across its 70 or so minutes.
"The fabric mix series has played an influential role in my learning of my craft, as influential to me as the club itself," the DJ and producer further explains. "The discs recorded by Ellen Allien, Craig Richards, Robert Hood, James Murphy and Pat Mahoney all taught me quite distinct things about track selection and pacing that I think about to this day. The John Peel one became an elegy that I still remember him by as much as his radio shows that I used to listen to.
"Because of this I wanted my mix to do a few things. Primarily I wanted it to be highly personal, a snap of my way of mixing records. Because my own technique has been influenced by other discs in the series, I had to capture the way I sometimes play in a club."
Call Super’s fabric 92 is out on February 17.
