Bob Dylan Has Not Responded To Nobel Win

Songwriter has remained silent since the announcement last week that he would receive this year's Nobel Prize for Literature

Bob Dylan is not returning the Nobel committee’s calls after he was named as this year’s recipient of the award for literature.

Dylan was named as the winner of the award last week and invited to collect it at a ceremony held in Sweden on December 10, but his attendance there is currently looking unlikely.

"Right now we are doing nothing," said Sarah Danius, the Swedish Academy’s permanent secretary. "I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough."

As The Guardian reports, the ceremony will go ahead with or without Dylan with other recipients expected to attend to receive different awards. Read our recent Black Sky Thinking piece on why Dylan’s win was a patronising affront to the noble art of pop here.
