As a key component of Manchester’s post-punk scene from the late 1970s, A Certain Ratio built up an extensive back catalogue and legacy with the band shifting through various members across its career, with its core line-up consisting of Jeremy Kerr, Martin Moscrop and Donald Johnson.
Now, Mute has announced a partnership with the band to look after their catalogue for recordings and publishing. As part of this partnership, Mute will set out on a programme of releases across a period of at least two years, beginning in February 2017 with a selection of the band’s studio albums.
The releases will continue with box sets, vinyl and special cassette releases that will include B-sides as well as unreleased tracks and rarities. There will too be remixes and live recordings released as part of the programme and all will be housed in A Certain Ratio’s trademark artwork.
The band’s current line-up have recently been performing select shows including some festival appearances, and will play Blackburn’s King George’s Hall on November 5. You can get tickets for that show here. Meanwhile, you can listen to a four-track sampler of old material from the band above, and read our 2010 interview with the band here.
