Strut’s next release will see them undertake the extensive task of reissuing a collection of Sun Ra’s 7" singles all in one release.
Released mostly in the 1950s, Sun Ra released an extensive collection of 7" singles alongside his other singles across his career. The music featured on the collection spans material released between 1952 and 1991 with the material featured having been originally released in limited quantities much like his LPs.
Strut have pulled the music from multiple sources with some of the singles having only been discovered in recent years in physical form. Other music featured here was planned for release but eventually shelved and some of it was made available posthumously. The album, entitled Sun Ra: The Definitive 45s Collection will be released in two 10×7" box sets, with both limited to 500 copies each. They will come with a 25-page booklet also.
You will also be able to buy them in an edition of two 3xLP box sets, with the first of those, spanning material released between 1952 and 1961 available to buy from November 25. The second of those sets will be released in March of next year.
