LISTEN: New Jupiter Okwess

Check out a track from the new EP by the Congolese musician below

Jupiter Okwess was discovered in 2006 thanks to Jupiter’s Dance, a documentary about the new music scene in Kinshasa. He featured as one of the documentary’s key figures and now he is preparing to release new music in the form of Troposphere 13. Above, you can listen to ‘Bengaï Yo’ taken from the EP.

Showcasing perfectly the exuberant spirit of much of Jupiter Okwess’ music, the track is one of six on the EP which marks his first material since the release three years ago of Hotel Univers, an album that attracted a lot of attention for Jupiter Okwess. The release features musical contributions from Warren Ellis and Damon Albarn and is set for release in November.
