Cult Electronic Noise Act V/VM Return

According to a not-very cryptic message on Facebook, the surreal and harsh electronic group V/Vm has been reactivated.

In the early hours of this morning, James Kirby (one half of the original line up) made this post on Facebook:

"V/Vm is back and ready for business. Remember the old slogan ‘nobody is safe’. I’m bringing that idea right back out to play soon with music nobody wants or needs. Call this a pre-warning."

The act’s first record Up-Link Data Transmissions came out 20 years ago and the group went on to cause equal amounts of delight, revulsion and confusion with electronic mangling/ repurposing/ renegade remixing of pop standards and novelty hits such as their infamous "plunderphonic" reworking of Chris De Burgh’s ‘Lady In Red’ and a series of ‘Snooker Loopy’ 7"s on different ‘snooker ball’ coloured vinyl as well as creating confounding and confrontational music of their own.

The project seemed to come to a natural conclusion about eight years ago as more and more attention was focused on The Caretaker, Stranger and Leyland James Kirby projects.

The Quietus will have more news on this story as it develops.
