LISTEN: Regis Remixes My Disco

Downwards to release new remix 12"

At tQ we’ve long admired My Disco for a being a guitar/bass/drums line-up group who make music that’s frequently as suited to the dancefloor as it is a gig. Their last record Severe was an exercise in restrained power, and the gig they did for us earlier in the summer stripped that back to even more daunting, taunting extremes. The new remix of ‘Our Decade’ by Karl ‘Regis’ O’Connor that you can listen to above draws out a high-tensile, metallic clang over Liam Andrews’ echoing and muttering vocals, the whole thing sounding like a high-tech knackers yard operated by an infernal Cistercian monk. O’Connor says that he wanted to work with My Disco because "there’s not one single thing about their music that annoys me", got in touch to tell them "what a fabulous opportunity it would be for them to work with me. It took them three months to reply" and claims that "I wanted to make it sound like that 23 Skidoo track ‘The Gospel Comes to New Guinea’ .. but that was too complicated so I did this instead." The Regis remix of ‘Our Decade’ comes backed with a second reworking by Lustmord, that one is of ‘1991’. Downwards will be releasing the 12" on August 26th.
