Soundwalk Collective are teaming up with Patti Smith and Jesse Paris Smith on a new live project in tribute to Nico. Above, you can check out the video for ‘Killer Road’, taken from the album.
The video was shot on the island of Ibiza where Nico passed away in 1988 with the visual representing an imagined snapshot of Nico’s last day, taking in the picturesque scenes of the Balearic island.
‘Killer Road’ is based on an unpublished poem written by Nico before her death, while the songs across the album take in various interpretations of Nico’s lyrics featured in albums such as Desertshore and Drama Of Exile. All lyrics are arranged by Patti Smith.
The roots of the project lie in a chance meeting between Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective founder Crasneanscki on a plane bound for New York. The album, entitled Killer Road, will be released by Bella Union on September 2.
