LISTEN: Outernational On NTS Live Radio

Two hours of Middle Eastern and African party music

Here is John Doran’s Outernational show from last Sunday for NTS Live, now up on Mixcloud.

The show features his usual mix of African and Middle Eastern party music, new and old, from his collection, sent to him by many great record labels and picked up in record shops around the UK.

During this show he was joined by his son who can be heard at several points trying to remove the needle from the wax and pushing a series of nerve shredding buttons at random.

It features new music from Noura Mint Seymali and Family Atlantica, a spotlight on Ethio jazz, classics from Fela and the Ebo Taylor produced CK Mann, not to mention some Afro house and some banging Algerian rai from Cheb Mohamed S’Gir.

The show is dedicated to all teachers currently striking or considering strike action over pay and working conditions.

If you want to see John DJing this kind of thing, his next Outernational night is on at Servant Jazz Quarters, Dalston, London, Saturday July 16. It’s free to get in and we go on late.
