4AD will release Scott Walker’s orchestral soundtrack to feature film The Childhood Of A Leader next month and you can check out a track from it, called ‘Run, above right now.
The soundtrack marks Walker’s first work of that kind since his score for Pola X in 1999. Partly inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s short story of the same name, the film depicts the formative years of a young boy set against the backdrop of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference that led to the Treaty of Versailles.
On the score, Walker works with long-term collaborators Peter Walsh and Mark Warman, with the latter conducting an orchestra consisting of 46 string players and 16 brass. The Childhood Of A Leader will be available in digital, vinyl and CD formats from August 19 with a limited run of transparent vinyl copies planned too.
