With Valentine’s Day having passed, the intent may have worn off somewhat but Powell and Lust For Youth’s Loke Rahbek have devised a customisable hatemail generator which allows you to enter the name of an ex or maybe even somebody else and send the mail anonymously.
The message comes accompanied by a track from the pair called ‘You Said It Would Be Alright’ which you hear before you send the mail. You can watch the track’s video above. "Loke and I ended up with this track that seemed to be about things neither of us would ever really write about, and so we thought it would be fun to see if we could just have a bit of fun on the internet and present love as something that, in our experience at least, can hurt just as much it can fill you with joy," says Powell. "Most people have had their heart broken at some point, after all." The project came about after a chance late-night encounter in the toilets at the Kraftwerk building during Berlin Atonal 2015.
This is the latest in a line of typically trickster activities. Last year, he turned an email exchange with Steve Albini on the latter’s hatred of dance music into a billboard promoting his Albini-sampling single.
