Golden Pudel Could Close In April

Treasured Hamburg club is at the centre of an ongoing legal dispute between building's owners

Esteemed Hamburg club Golden Pudel is facing an uncertain future with a conflict between owners coming to a head which could see the club auctioned off in April.

A favourite club of many DJs – with residents including Helena Hauff – it was opened in 1989 by owners Rocko Schamoni and Wolf Richter. However, as Electronic Beats reports, the pair have been locked in an ongoing legal dispute since 2014 when Schamoni (owner of the first floor of the building which contains the club) took Richter (owner of the second floor of the building which contains a restaurant) to court for allegedly not paying his way on building costs. Following that, Richter cancelled the pair’s joint contract in April of last year which has now led to the current financial problems which will see the club ‘foreclosed’ in April. If Schamoni can save the building from auction, he has a contract on use of the space for a further 12 years.
