As talk of ‘the vinyl revival’ continues, it has emerged that HMV sold a turntable a minute in the week immediately running up to Christmas.
As The Vinyl Factory reports, the retailer sold more record players than ever recently with the increase of vinyl sales naturally leading to greater sales of turntables on which to play said records. Ian Topping, chief executive of HMV, told The Scotsman: “The gift of the year in 2015 has to be a turntable as we see a huge resurgence in the sales of vinyl.” Official Charts Company data towards the end of last year showed that the UK was on track to seeing vinyl sales reach two million by the end of 2015.
