Indie rockers Razorlight have revealed that they considered splitting after drummer Andy Burrows left earlier this year.
Johnny Borrell claims that the band were rocked by the departure of Burrows, but decided to carry on without him.
Burrows departed in March, and told NME: "It was hell. I’m glad I’m finally out of it. I hated being in the band.
"Johnny [Borrell, frontman] and I didn’t get on. Now I’ve got my freedom. He never wanted people to know we both wrote songs and I couldn’t be in control. I’m happy again now."
Today, Borrell told ContactMusic: "It was not at all certain that we were going to carry on.
"We had kind of rehearsed for it because we had exactly the same situation just after the first album [2004’s Up All Night], when Christian Smith-Pancorvo left, then Andy came in."
But the band have now stabilised since the addition of new drummer Dave ‘Skully’ Sullivan-Kaplan.
Borrell added: "Skully fitted in right away. He’s a really great guy and an excellent drummer, so it all feels new and exciting."
