New Additions To Unsound

Krakow festival adds new show involving Tim Hecker plus a handful of new names

With the majority of this year’s Unsound line-up already announced – the rest is remaining a surprise until the actual event – the festival has added a few more acts and announced a number of other events taking place across the week.

‘Ephemera’ is a multi-sensory project linking sound and scent that Unsound has been developing since 2014. At Unsound Toronto earlier this year, the project was given a live interpretation with Tim Hecker taking care of the sound. The show will also be presented this year in Krakow during Unsound though due to limited numbers, it is billed as a special event for which separate tickets will have to be purchased in addition to the festival pass.

There will also be a special pre-opening event on October 10 at a 19th-century building by the Wisla River. Here, Max Loderbauer will collaborate with Jacek Sienkiewicz on a special live set built around the ambient EP Ridges. Again, a separate ticket will have to be purchased for this event in addition to the full festival pass. Tickets to both of these events as well as to Laraaji’s Peace Garden yoga session will go on sale at midday this Thursday (September 24).

The Phantom will also present the premiere of a new live show called ‘Baltic Beat’ as part of the festival and there will be sets from Prostitutes, Michal Wolski, Lutto Lento and NHJ, all of whom are newly added to the line-up today. It has also been announced that Jlin’s live show will feature dancer Avril Unger and that Jigoku (aka Cherrystones and Lovely Jon) will present an all-night film marathon at Unsound for the sixth time. Another world premiere show has been added to the billing too. Taking place at Hotel Forum, the only information that is being revealed about this set before the festival is that it will be a special A/V show. Unsound takes place in Krakow, Poland from October 11-18. You can find more information and the line-up as it stands here.
