LISTEN: New Bo Ningen

13-minute piece recorded last month at the Barbican as part of The Vinyl Factory and Doug Aitken's 'Station to Station' project

From late June to late July The Vinyl Factory partnered with American multi-media artist Doug Aitken and the Barbican to bring his ‘Station to Station: A 30 Day Happening’ project to the UK, taking place across the London art venue. The event featured various residencies, installations and live performances, and one of those saw Bo Ningen produce a piece in a working recording studio that was set up on site, and you can hear the results of that above.

The track is made up of 13 minutes of funk-infused guitars and crashing drums gradually building to a more riotous climax as expected from the group. A physical copy of the piece is available to pick up here in a limited edition of 300, including “head-crafted, black dye artwork” which has apparently been “head-banged onto the record sleeve”. It was pressed on-site at the Barbican by The Vinyl Factory. Trevor Jackson and Savages were also among those that passed through the studio during the event.
