LISTEN: British Sea Power With Brass

Band share track taken from forthcoming album featuring old material recently reworked for tour with brass ensemble

British Sea Power are currently preparing to release Sea Of Brass, a new studio album and DVD based around their tour of the same name which saw them perform highlights from their back catalogue alongside a full brass orchestra, with one of those shows taking place at the Barbican. Above, you can have a first listen of the opening track from the album, a version of ‘Heavenly Waters’.

The album will receive a multi-format release with CD, vinyl, DVD and limited edition boxset releases all planned from the studio recordings of the interpretations that the band put together for the ’Sea Of Brass’ tour. The studio version of the brass arrangements were recorded with the Foden’s Band, a Cheshire-based brass ensemble that formed in 1900. The DVD release, meanwhile, was filmed with the Redbridge Brass Band at the Barbican. It’s all being self-released, as is the case with many of BSP’s releases, via their Golden Chariot label. All tracks featured are taken from BSP’s albums Machineries Of Joy, Valhalla Dancehall and Do You Like Rock Music? Sea Of Brass will be available to buy from October 30.
