Moby: “Play Was OK And Obvious”

Moment of realisation...

A decade on from the release of Play, and Moby has admitted what everyone knew all along: it’s not very good.

The follicly challenged singer told Anthem magazine that he isn’t a fan of the record which made him a household name and launched a thousand adverts.

"I still don’t like [Play] that much", he said. "I listen to it [and] I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s OK. Seems a little obvious in places’.

Speaking of the record’s popularity, he added: "Im thrilled they [the fans] disagree!"

He also revealed that Animal Rights is his favourite record, and it has a handful (literally) of famous fans.

"Terrence Trent D’Arby wrote me a fan letter to say that he loved it, on Terrence Trent D’Arby stationery.

"Bono, in a bar, told me that he liked it as much as the first Clash album.

"And Axl Rose told me that he listened to it on repeat."
