Mogwai To Soundtrack Hiroshima Doc

Atomic - Living In Dread And Promise broadcast later this week

Mogwai have soundtracked the first instalment of the BBC Four’s BBC Goes Nuclear series, which starts next week. The series has been commissioned to mark the 70th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, and the first part is a documentary entitled Storyville: Atomic – Living In Dread And Promise and is directed by Mark Cousins (director of the The Story of Film: An Odyssey) and hits screens on BBC Scotland this Saturday, August 8, at 9 pm, with a following broadcast on BBC Four on Sunday, August 9, also at 9 pm.

The documentary will solely draw on archive footage to make what the BBC call, "an impressionistic kaleidoscope of our nuclear times: protest marches, Cold War sabre rattling, Chernobyl and Fukushima, but also the sublime beauty of the atomic world, and how X-rays and MRI scans have improved human lives".
