With the new album from Public Image Ltd. on the way in September and a single preceding its release in the form of ‘Double Trouble’, John Lydon and co. have just shared the video for the track and you can have a watch of it above.
The clip captures the band in the studio during the sessions for the album at Steve Winwood’s Wincraft studio in the Cotswold and includes a number of shots of Lydon donning an Arsenal shirt (but we’ll try not to hold that against him). The single is out on 10" vinyl on August 21. It is the lead single from the new PiL album, What The World Needs Now… which is released a couple of weeks later on September 4 through the band’s own PiL Official label.
According to Lydon, the track itself, which opens the album, arose from an argument with his wife about plumbing but also came to concern relationships. The 10" vinyl release will also be backed by a track called ‘Bettie Page’ and non-album bonus track ‘Turkey Tits’. What The World Needs Now… follows PiL’s 2012 album, This Is PiL, which was the first Public Image Ltd. album in 17 years. You can catch the band on a tour of Europe and the UK from September 18 – all the dates and ticket links can be found here.
