In news that’s sent one Quietus staff member off to Portugal for a "festival", Pavement’s Bob Nastanovich has said that there’s a "50/50 chance" that the band will reunite to play Stephen Colbert’s Late Show later this year. Talking on the Pants Off! podcast, he said that the band had been invited to play the programme when Colbert takes over from David Letterman as the host this September. "Pavement’s supposed to play," says Nastanovich. "If we can get it all together, we’ve been invited to play on the new Colbert show in like September. So that might be cool. Hopefully it’ll come off, right now it seems kind of 50/50. I don’t even know what we’re gonna play or anything like that, but they invited us to do it a few weeks ago and we’re trying to schedule it all out. Everyone else in my band, they’ve got kids and stuff."
Whether or not a longer-running reunion for the band, which would come after their last get-together in 2010, it follows other Pavement activity this year in the form of The Secret History Vol. 1, a collection of B-sides, unreleased session tracks, Peel sessions and live recordings from around the time of their debut album, 1992’s Slanted And Enchanted, which is out on August 14.
