Atonal Festival: New Acts Added

Immersive new performances added to already intriguing line-up

As Berlin’s Atonal inches ever closer, the festival have announced the schedule for much of the weekend’s doings as well as confirming a fresh batch of new performances for the five-day event.

Alessandro Cortini and Australian composer and producer Lawrence English will join forces for an specially-commissioned performance of, "Immersive horizontal music. Drowning the ears. Consuming the body". The festival have also commissioned a piece by Polish composer Jacek Sienkiewicz for the event’s opening night, a set that promises to blend "harmonic swells and treated synthesised drones with adroitly weighted melodic passages". All this comes on top of previously announced performances from Faust and Tony Conrad and SUMS, the acclaimed collaboration between Mogwai’s Barry Burns and Raster-Noton artist Kangding Ray. Take a look-see above at the schedule for the running order and full list of confirmed acts. Atonal takes place over August 19-23 at the quite incredible Kraftwerk power plant in Berlin. Tickets are available from the Atonal website for €85.60.
