Other than an eight-year hiatus back in 1992, dream-psych five-piece The Telescopes have been steadily releasing albums for nearly 20 years. Having signed with Hamburg-based label Tapete, ‘You Know The Way’ is The Telescopes’ latest teaser for their eighth album, Hidden Fields, due out in August.
‘You Know The Way’ features Martin Kirwan and Glasgow fuzz-rock trio St. Deluxe. Subsequently, the combination of Stephen Lawrie et al. wreaking sweet droning havoc and The Mutual Extermination Club’s kaleidoscopic videography results in a high-octane fever-dream where segments of cityscape segue into subaquatic technicolour worlds and Lawrie’s voice growls from somewhere just below your field of understanding. The Hidden Fields album artwork flashing up at irregular intervals reminds you that you haven’t accidentally slipped into a state of exhausted incomprehension.
