Aleksandra Campesinos! is leaving Britain’s premier tweecore band.
The singer, who also provided keyboards and melody horn in exchange for that surname, is quitting to resume her university studies.
In a statement posted on the Los Campesinos! website it’s made clear that the split is amicable and has been planned ever since the band started three years ago.
“We’ve always been very pragmatic when thinking about the future for Los Campesinos!,” it reads, “and it is at this point that Aleks has decided her future does not reside in flogging this LC! nonsense any longer.
“Though she will remain a Campesinos! for eternity. There’s no escaping that.”
The seven-piece won’t be six for long, though, as another is already lined-up to take her place.
The band will play its last shows with Aleks this August on a tour of the US that includes a slot at Lollapalooza.
