Chinwag Hosts Artists In Conversation

Monthly event in Leeds sees therapist Chris Madden in conversation with the likes of Viv Albertine and Andrew Weatherall, encouraging you to "lean in and listen to a conversation about creativity, life and anything else that springs to mind"

Music and Arts Production (MAP) is a Leeds-based music and arts centre helping young learners in the area with music courses and other creative opportunities alongside mainstream education. Chinwag, a monthly event at the nearby Outlaws Yacht Club, aims to support the centre through its events which see therapist Chris Madden in conversation with a number of musicians and other personalities.

Among those who have taken part in the events so far are Viv Albertine, Irvine Welsh and Andrew Weatherall (you can watch part 1 of his conversation above). "I suppose Chinwag is what it is because it comes from my therapeutic practice; a humanistic, relational approach of positive regard for each guest," says Madden. "I’m not there to take a guest to task (well maybe I am sometimes!). Mostly it’s a gentle chat that can and often does go off in any direction." Chinwag is a free event, with a door donation requested to support the work going on at MAP. You can find out more about Chinwag here and watch others videos from previous sessions here.
