Sigur Ros: New Album News

Icelandic group go "out there"

North Atlantic hippies Sigur Ros have revealed initial details about their next album on a post on their website.

The group have been working in their own Sundlaugin studio in the Icelandic town of álafoss for the past few weeks and say that the record "is now nearing completion."

Drummer Orri Páll Dýrason told an Icelandic newspaper that the recordings are going well, and the result will be "slower and more ambient" than recent works. Apparently "the music as melodic but much less noisy and more ‘out there’ than previous albums."

The band hope to release the as-yet-untitled record this year.
