Luke and I are currently in Norway, grappling with pickled herring, vicious cold snaps and a thousand bands who want to sound either like Robyn or My Bloody Valentine – pleasant enough problems to deal with I’m sure you’ll agree. But every single year, when it’s time to leave By:Larm in Oslo, we will have seen at least two new bands that we come home really excited to write about and this is simply because new music is genuinely more exciting; more thrilling to listen to, more thrilling to write about, more thrilling to talk about.
And our radio show, we hope, reflects this passion for the shock of the brand spanking new. Today we have new (and new to us) tracks by Kano, One More Grain, Algiers, Noel Gallagher, Richard Dawson, The Soft Moon, Lonelady, Frisk Frugt and Mbongwana Star.
