This Wednesday, February 18, the Redchurch Brewery, the fine Cambridge Heath, London watering hole, will be holding the second 시소 (Xixo) night, recently set up by British producer Luke Smith, who’s worked with Depeche Mode and Foals among others, and designer Younghee Lee. As they explain, it "aims to establish a creative bridge between Europe and Korea, showcasing innovative talents from across the arts in an informal and accessible setting" and will be playing host to experimental music and performance over the coming months.
This edition will be headlined by Leo Abrahams, the guitarist, producer and collaborator (Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins, Nick Cave and Pulp to name four) par excellence, and composer David Coulter performing a new piece. Smith tells us that Seoul artist Bona Park "will be collaborating with a very special guest exploring their cultural identity via the spirit of 80s pop divas blurring the line between art and pop", while he and Bob Earland will be using modular synths to process a live drum score performed by Chris Hutchings. Artist Adrian Lee, who’s interested in amplifying utilitarian signage, will be installing a piece in the bar, and there’ll be the Redchurch’s own redoubtable DJs, the Norton Folgate Approach, on the decks. Tickets are a mere £3 on the door and all details are at the Facebook event, while you can watch a video of the first edition below:
