At this year’s Atonal Festival in Berlin, one of the highlights was the Sunday evening/night programming by local night Contort, run by Samuel and Hayley Kerridge. Contort hosted the brilliant Ike Yard (whose set suggested their new LP due next year will be top), undersung Cold Wave hero In Aeternam Vale, Laurent Prot, Kerridge and Eric of OAKE’s UF project, Tim Hecker to have a snooze to and an absolute belter of a jungle set from Source Direct – our review here. Now, what was a Sunday afternoon diversion is to become a record label, with the first release from Samuel Kerridge himself.
Always Offended Never Ashamed will be Kerridge’s second album, and the follow-up to debut A Fallen Empire, released on Downwards last year. We are told that this is his "most personal recording to date" and features vocals from the handsome mod of noisy techno himself. The album will come out on the auspicious date of Friday 13th of February on vinyl and digital formats, and will be followed by a series of releases of recordings of live sets from Contort.
