Grumbling Fur are following up the critically acclaimed smash hit release of their Preternaturals album with a series of tour dates around the UK as autumn collapses into the winter of 2014, and the release of the ‘Lightinsisters’ single featuring Tim Burgess, with a video to come. To accompany these auspicious tidings, we’re pleased to present you with an excellent remix by Mercury Nominated former Quietus Phonographic Corporation artist East India Youth, who’s turned in the lurching, lurid and kaleidoscopic reworking of ‘All The Rays’ that was premiered on NME.com earlier today – listen to that below.
What’s more, Daniel O’Sullivan and Alexander Tucker have unveiled a new live incarnation of Grumbling Fur wherein they can explore their desires outside of the boundaries of song. The Grumbling Fur Time Machine Orchestra will be performing a special set as part of London’s Illuminations Festival on Thursday, November 6th. This incarnation of Grumbling Fur is a fluid, flexible entity in which they’ll be joined by other musicians and fellow travellers to perform sets very different from the usual Fur fare. "Composition\spontaneous actions= RA\OM !!!!" they enthuse – a recent set inspired by the sounds and films of Derek Jarman at the Faber Social cleansed many a mynde.
This particular show will be a live A/V performance of Mark Titchner’s Rose installation, which first appeared at the South London Gallery earlier this year. Watch a trailer for that here.
Grumbling Fur will also be performing as main support to East India Youth at his gig at Heaven on November 13th. Says William Doyle from behind his tie pin, "From the moment I first saw Grumbling Fur at Incubate festival in 2013 (sat down, a bit half cut and ready for mind-expansion) I knew that I was about to enter a long term love affair with the most cosmic band that have crossed my path in quite some time. At the core of their dronescapes, however, is an amazing penchant for Pop (with a capital P) melody and structure. Each performance I’ve seen has been more adventurous – and entertaining – as the last so I’m delighted to have them support me on 13th November. A match made in Heaven." Can you see what he did there?
You might also want to note that Grumbling Fur have contributed artwork and a remix to tQPC’s forthcoming single by The Charlatans, ‘Talking In Tones’, which we’re releasing on September 29th. Have a listen to the Charlatans track and see the artwork here.
