TOMORROW: Mdou Moctar

Tuareg guitarist set for London set in Cafe Oto

Tomorrow night, excellent experimental Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar is playing Cafe Oto in Dalston, London. Moctar honed his skills after moving from his native Agadez in Niger to Libya, before releasing his debut album, Anar – "a psychedelic electronic album of Tuareg guitar, [which] became an instant success throughout the mp3 networks of West Africa" as Oto say – in 2008 with the follow-up, Afelan, coming out last year. He’ll also be starring in Akounak Teggdalit Taha Tazoughai, the first ever Tuareg language film.

Full details and tickets are over at Oto’s website, and take a listen to his single ‘Tahoultine’ below.
