In Conversation: Mogwai, “Cockroaches Of Post Rock” On… Mogwai

Mogwai talk to Luke Turner about the highs and lows of their near two decades of operation

At their Royal Festival Hall gig earlier this year, the five members of Mogwai sat down with the Quietus to discuss their past, present and future. In our video, Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison, John Cummings, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns discuss each of their favourite Mogwai records and memories, ponder why and how they’ve managed to keep going (rather than ducking out and coming back for a lucrative classic album-set reformation), and remember the time when they played at Glastonbury and found what might have been Keanu Reeves’ piss in their dressing room.

Mogwai’s reissue of Come On Die Young is out on Chemikal Underground this week – for more information, head here. Mogwai play at KOKO’s tribute to their late soundperson Julia Brightly next Tuesday, July 29; full details are here.
