LISTEN: Caribou – Can’t Do Without You

Opener to upcoming fourth album, Our Love

Caribou, aka Canadian polymath Dan Snaith, has announced the follow-up to his celebrated 2010 album Swim. Entitled Our Love, it will be out on October 6 via City Slang and Merge. It’s the indie-electronica artist’s fourth album under his Caribou moniker, and features collaborations with Jessy Lanza and Owen Pallett.

Snaith has posted the first track, ‘Can’t Do Without You’, over on SoundCloud; have a listen above. On first impressions, it doesn’t move too far from the formula on Swim, distanced from both the electronic neo-psych of his earlier albums as Caribou and Manitoba and the more muscular, afro-inflected club music he makes as Daphni. It’s melancholic house with the familiar elements of sampled live drums and an Arthur Russell-esque vocal, building to an emotive crescendo of fuzzy keys.

Caribou will also be undertaking a massive world tour this summer and autumn, including a smattering of festival dates in the UK; for more details, and to pre-order the album, head to his website.
