Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

Denial Of The Species: Lee Buford Of The Body’s Favourite Albums

With the UK leg of their European tour drawing to a close with sets in Bristol tonight and on the Quietus' Desertfest stage tomorrow, Lee Buford of the none-bleaker American sludge duo picks out 13 all-time top records and pens us his own Baker's Dozen

I tried to pick records that I could listen to front to back at any point in my life, no matter how I was feeling at the time. I’ve already made public my complete adoration for Fleetwood Mac and The Beach Boys, so I left them off because if I didn’t, I would’ve just filled up the whole list with their records. Most of these records I’ve loved since my teenage years so either they really stand the test of time or I’m stuck in some weird Peter Pan fantasy world where I can’t grow up. I’m also going to warn you that most of these records are real bummers, but what can I say, the world is shit.

The Body are currently touring Europe, playing Church of St Thomas the Martyr in Bristol with Ã…rabrot and Hey Colossus tonight, followed by the Quietus’ stage at Desertfest tomorrow, April 26; head here for full details of the upcoming dates.
