Låpsley Is One To Watch Say GIT Award

One to watch prize winner announced ahead of Friday's award ceremony

Ahead of this Friday’s award ceremony in Liverpool, the ‘Scouse Mercury Prize’ aka the GIT Award 2014 judging panel have awarded the One To Watch gong to Låpsley.

The prize, intended for artists under the age of 18, is being given to the 17-year-old electronica artist and producer, who has had nearly half a million plays on Soundcloud alone for her two tracks ‘Station’ and ‘Valentine’.

The main award will be handed out on Friday night at the Kazimier and chosen from a shortlist of All We Are, Evian Christ, Circa Waves, Dan Croll, Ex-Easter Island-Head, Forest Swords, Mad Brains, Ninetails, Outfit, Bill Ryder-Jones, Tea Street Band and VEYU.

The judging panel includes Quietus editor John Doran, Quietus writers Simon Price and Jude Rogers, Alan McGee, Peter Robinson and GIT founder Peter Guy.
