The Willy Wonka of wonk pop Connan Mockasin has opened another window into his elfishly eccentric world via the video for the Prince-drowning-in-a-chocolate-river sounding ‘Do I Make You Feel Shy?’ But the clip, set in the very English surroundings of Charlie’s karaoke bar in Manchester, is anything but fantastical. It finds the New Zealand singer-songwriter awkwardly crooning along to the track, bringing to mind the shabby world of Peter Kay sitcom Phoenix Nights. Even so, it’s a befitting extension of Mockasin’s oddball persona.
Connan is set to embark on a US tour throughout May before returning to European shores for a string of summer festival dates. Golden tickets do not apply here.
