On February 5, French techno producer Paul Régimbeau, aka Mondkopf, will be releasing his new album, Hadès, on his In Paradisum Records label and Honest Jon’s Distribution. It’s his first new material since last year’s excellent Perc Trax EP The Nicest Way, and we’ve got a first spin of LP cut ‘Hadès III’, which you can hear and download below:
The first cut from the record is a stately, darkly meditative piece, tapping into the sense of lingering dread present on last year’s EP, letting the brass motif and drone that ground the track cycle over, while the crash and whirr of electronics, some grinding guitar chords and an industrial, morphed handclap freight it with suspense. And while he doesn’t let go a kinetic assault here, the press release’s note that he "unleash[es] the full range of his percussive arsenal" suggests his gargantuan kick drums get a fair outing elsewhere on the record. Head to In Paradisum’s Bandcamp on release to get hold of the album.
