We’ve already raved about the beard-manglingly good line-up of bands – Master Musicians Of Bukkake, Dragged Into Sunlight, The Body, Hey Colossus, Ã…rabrot and Slabdragger – that will be playing the Quietus stage at this year’s Desertfest, taking place in Camden Town, London on April 25-27, and the whole bill continues to grow in magnificence. Today, the organisers have announced that Kvelertak, the Norwegian masters of kicking all metal sub-genres under the sun into fearful submission, will be headlining this year’s event.
The Stavanger six-piece have released two albums to date, 2010’s Kvelertak and Meir last year, with our review of the latter telling: "On paper it’s a train wreck, a mess of contrasting ideas and opposing ideologies, but these guys make it work, belting out hoarse-throated Cookie Monster vocals and terrace-style group chants over three-part guitar harmonies, thrashy solos and a rhythm section that turns on a dime from grindcore blast beats to glam rock stomp and back again." As such, make sure you get hold of tickets for the festival at Desertfest’s website, and get a Kvelertak primer with their video for ‘Bruane Brenn’ below:
