After a quiet start to the year, the PAN label has recently been cranking up the gears for its 2013 output, with a rapid fire sequence of releases from – deep breath – Concrete Fence, Black Sites, Helm, Rashad Becker, Marginal Consort and Rene Hell all arriving within about a month of each other. (That wheeze you hear is the sound of our collective wallets groaning).
Following this flurry of activity, and in the same week Japan’s Marginal Consort release Instal. Glasgow 2008 – an epic three hour improv/drone/noise 4LP set – via PAN, this Thursday label head Bill Kouligas hosted a special one-off radio show on Rinse FM. As expected, it found him drawing for a broad array of dancefloor, non-dancefloor and off-radar electronic sounds: club artists as diverse as Beneath, Detroit’s MGUN, Errorsmith and MMM mixed with more exploratory fare – one of the show’s highlights is the late appearance of one of PAN’s finest releases, the ballet-for-modular-synth pirouettes of Keith Fullerton Whitman’s ‘Disingenuousness’. You can stream and download the two-hour show from the Rinse FM website, or right click & ‘Save As’ here to download it.
Keep an eye on the Quietus for more on PAN’s current crop of releases in the coming weeks.
