In June, Date Palms, the San Francisco duo of Gregg Kowalsky and Marielle Jakobsons released their third album, The Dusted Sessions, a musical meditation on the American dustbowl, imprinted with their trademark mix of minimalist, ambient and Indian classical sounds.
Ahead of their tour, which takes in Europe next month, including a particularly excellent London stop where they’ll be sharing a bill with J Spaceman, Oneida’s Kid Millions under his Man Forever guise (who also joins the band for the German dates), Plankton Wat and Pat Thomas at Cafe OTO, we’ve got a stream of the album’s bonus track, ‘Sky Trails’ a slow-burning (‘burning’ being the operative word) heat-meld of drone notes overlaid with glares of Rhodes piano, bass and guitar, sprawling out with brilliant stasis over its four minutes – have a listen below, with the tour dates following:
