The long-awaited companion album to Peter Gabriel’s 2010 covers album Scratch My Back, titled And I’ll Scratch Yours has been announced as ready for release on September 23 via Real World.
The two albums started out as a song exchange project, with Gabriel recording his interpretations of tracks by Talking Heads, David Bowie, Lou Reed and more and those artists in turn doing their versions of his tracks.
He’s now collected together 12 tracks with all but two of the originally chosen artists reciprocating (Feist and Joseph Arthur have gamely stepped up in their place), with Talking Heads’ David Byrne covering ‘I Don’t Remember’, Eno (of the Bowie/Eno "Heroes" doing ‘Mother Of Violence’ and Reed reworking ‘Solsbury Hill’, alongside contributions from Bon Iver, Regina Spektor, Stephin Merritt, Randy Newman, Arcade Fire, Elbow and Paul Simon.
And I’ll Scratch Yours will be out separately and as a double-album with Scratch My Back.
