Warp is 20 this year. The music, film and design label will be celebrating its anniversary throughout 2009, with a series of special events and releases.
Warp20 will look to bring together the directors, artists and guests on the rosters of Warp Records and Warp Films for a series of live events held in London, New York, Tokyo and other cities across the globe.
The first happening will take place in Paris – Aphex Twin & Hecker, Pivot, Andrew Weatherall, DJ Mujava and !!! have been confirmed so far, with the full bill emerging early next month.
After that, Warp20 will come to New York in July before an August homecoming party in Sheffield. In September the celebration will roll into London and then onto Tokyo for November.
One of the special releases set to mark the anniversary comes in the form of a ‘best of…’ compilation the label are describing as “definitive” – with a poll hosted at Warp20.net, fans can vote for their favourite Warp tracks with the top ten making their way onto the release, where they will sit alongside a selection chosen by Warp co-founder Steve Beckett.
Futher announcements on the plans for Warp20 will arrive throughout the course of the year.
