Loop To Headline Roadburn Festival 2014

Vinyl reissues of final two studio LPs coming next week and in September

Here’s a fine start to your Wednesday: Robert Hampson’s reformed Loop have been announced as headliners for next year’s Roadburn Festival, taking place in Tilburg, The Netherlands from April 10-13 2014.

It follows Hampson’s appearance at this year’s edition of the festival, where he appeared on stage with Godflesh (having been a member in the early nineties) to perform Loop’s ‘Straight To Your Heart’.

Say the festival: "The band’s trancelike, sometimes claustrophobic soundscapes […] characterised by the spectral vocals of Hampson buried beneath layers of fuzz and wah-wah, have made a lasting imprint on the likes of Neurosis, Electric Wizard, Sunn O))) and countless others, as well as the Roadburn Festival itself.

"From the first iteration, Roadburn has been covering contemporary, acid-drenched psychedelia with Loop’s revelatory, sonic pummel […] as an artistic blueprint for the festival."

Tickets for next year’s edition go on sale on October 11 – head to the festival’s site to get hold of them.

In other Loop news, Reactor will be reissuing their final two studio albums on "ltd skullcrushing double LP" 45rpm vinyl ahead of their curation of ATP’s final holiday camp festival, End Of An Era 2 from November 29 – December 1. Fade Out from 1989 will be released next week and 1990’s A Gilded Eternity in September, with 1988 compilation The World In Your Eyes following next year. Their debut record, 1987’s Heaven’s End has already been released on double vinyl and CD, as have CD versions of The World In Your Eyes, Fade Out and A Gilded Eternity – head over to Reactor’s Facebook for further details.

Currently announced for Loop’s ATP, as well as Loop themselves, are The Pop Group, 23 Skidoo, Fennesz, Oneohtrix Point Never, Edan (DJ set), Eaux, Hookworms, The KVB and Thought Forms. Head here to get hold of tickets and whet your appetites with this reissue taster mix:
