Sonic Router, the label/website run by Quietus contributor Oli Marlow, have announced that their latest release will come from Chris Sallows, aka Fuewa. Sallows, who has formerly released music under the name Microburst, intended this new project to be more intently focused on textural explorations, and Birth Palace is his first release under the Fuewa name. It will be released on cassette and digital formats on July 1st.
Says Sallows: "This sound has slowly been creeping into my Microburst productions for a while now and I felt the need for separation before it got out of hand. Fuewa is a channel for the rougher, murkier side of things – something less concerned with cleanliness and more about texture, feeling and sound." With their heavily distorted rhythms and woozy textures, there’s a definite connection between the six tracks on Birth Palace and the release schedules of kindred labels such as Opal Tapes and Broken20.
