The Spirit Level – Two Minute Trailer from Literally Films on Vimeo.
Currently in the works is an excellent-looking documentary based around Richard G. Wilkinson and Kate Pickett’s 2009 book The Spirit Level, which set out how inequality in society has hugely negative ramifications in all areas of life.
The film, directed by Katharine Round, is currently in production and the filmmakers have just completed the first round of interviews, talking to a number of academics and experts in the field, and have put together short clips taken from them in the trailer above.
Say the filmmakers: "The Spirit Level tells the story of how the gap between rich and poor has risen to unprecedented levels, under our noses. But does it matter? We’ve be interweaving stories from across the globe to examine how it impacts on all our lives."
Backing for the film is coming from crowdfunding, and we’d strongly urge people to help the filmmakers, through spreading word and re-posting the trailer online and by pre-ordering a copy of the documentary at their official website. There are a whole host of perks to accompany pledges, from signed copies of the book to associate producer credits – head here to fund.
