WATCH: Elephant – Skyscraper

South London duo release new video for ace single

In March, South London duo Elephant released ‘Skyscraper’ via Memphis Industries, their first new single following an extended hiatus (owing to "a Fleetwood Mac style bout of acrimony" according to the accompanying statement), having first appeared on the scene in 2010 – they’ve just released its video today, which you can watch above.

It’s an idyllic piece of escapist pop (they call it "Nocturnal Lo-Fi Bedroom Dreamy Beach Pop", no less), founded on spindly, arpeggiating guitar and wavering, decayed-tape synths, over which swirls of chorused ‘ahhs’, seemingly cut from a long-lost studio reel from c.1952, and Amelia Rivas’ lead vocal veer forward.

Get hold of tickets to see them at London’s The Waiting Room on May 22 here.
