LISTEN: Rustie – ‘Triadzz’

Trap-rap flavoured new instrumental from Glasgow firebrand

As we’ve previously reported, Glasgow’s Rustie is about to return with his first 12" of new material since the saccharine overload of his Glass Swords album frazzled all and sundry in 2011. Featuring two tracks – ‘Slasherzz’ and ‘Triadzz’ – it’s released this week on 12" and digital via Numbers. ‘Slasherr’ has already been kicking about for a few weeks (listen to it here) and now it’s the turn of its partner to make an appearance. You can listen to it via the video embed above. It’s somewhat subtler than much of his Glass Swords material, with a shimmering, metallic feel in line with Jam City’s Classical Curves album from last year, but draws heavily from US southern rap instrumentals, dropping downwards into booming 808 rhythms and flickering click-track hi-hats.
