LISTEN: Melt Yourself Down Mixtape + Win London Tickets

Listen to a mixtape from Polar Bear/Zun Zun Egui-affiliated crew, plus win tickets for next week's London show and a copy of their new 12"

As we’ve previously announced, Melt Yourself Down are set to release their ferocious debut 12" via The Leaf Label on Februrary 25th, featuring the tracks ‘Fix My Life’ and ‘We Are Enough’.

The band is a collaborative project featuring something of a who’s who’s who of musicians working in the regions around jazz, improv, punk and more: Acoustic Ladyland/Polar Bear man Pete Wareham, Zun Zun Egui’s Kushal Gaya, Hello Skinny’s Tom Skinner, saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, Acoustic Ladyland’s Ruth Goller, Satin Singh of Transglobal Underground, and Leafcutter John.

Fitting the members’ diverse backgrounds, Melt Yourself Down’s is a thrilling hybrid sound, touching on jazz, African music, post-punk, psych-rock and the kind of fierce jazz/rock fusions that Wareham’s other bands are renowned for. Listen to the tracks from the upcoming 12" here.

To accompany the release, the group are heading out on a short tour at the end of this month, taking in dates in London, Leeds, Nottingham and Hastings. For full dates, see bottom of page. In advance of the tour, they’ve put together a mixtape – entitled ‘Nubian Nightjar’ – a beautifully assembled collage of rhythm-driven African music, Afrobeat, jittery electronics, jazz and more – which we’re pleased to be able to offer for your listening pleasure. Stream it via the embed below.
